Private Art Instruction (In-Person or Online)
Whether you're picking up a pencil for the first time, returning to art after time away, or looking to refine existing skills, private lessons are tailored to your individual goals and experience level.
These are focused, hands-on sessions designed to build real technical ability, confidence, and a consistent creative practice — not just casual painting time.
I work across multiple mediums including oil painting, drawing, watercolor, sculpture, and mixed media. Lessons are adapted to where you are and what you want to develop, whether that’s foundational skills, creative exploration, or finished work.

Lesson Pathways
Beginner Foundations
Designed for students with little or no prior experience. We focus on foundational skills, materials, observation, and creative confidence while building a strong artistic foundation.
Skill Development
For students who already have some experience and want to strengthen technique, improve their understanding of design, and gain greater control over their chosen medium.
Independent Study
For students pursuing personal projects, portfolio development, advanced skill building, or deeper exploration of specific mediums and concepts. Lessons are customized around the student's individual goals.
My Approach
Every student learns differently. I begin by getting to know your interests, goals, experience level, and preferred learning style so that lessons can be designed specifically for you.
I combine structured exercises with longer projects to help students develop both technical skills and creative confidence. Lessons can be focused, exploratory, traditional, contemporary, experimental, or any combination of the above.
I welcome students of all ages and abilities and strive to create a supportive environment where questions, experimentation, and growth are encouraged.
Qualifications
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art with concentrations in Painting and Art Education. My background includes working across multiple artistic disciplines and teaching students ranging from young children to seniors in both private and group settings.
Lesson Options
1-Hour Focus Session — $60
A focused session for targeted learning, troubleshooting, or introduction work.
Best for:
Beginners trying their first session
Quick feedback on current work
Skill refresh or specific technique focus
People with limited time
2-Hour Development Session — $110
In a 2-hour session we have time to:
properly set up and settle into work
develop a piece instead of just starting it
go deeper into technique and correction
build momentum and skill retention
Most students see noticeably faster improvement with this format.
6-Session Progression Packages
6 × 1-hour sessions — $330
For flexible, ongoing learning at a steady pace.
6 × 2-hour sessions — $600
This is the most effective option for real development and finished work.
If your goal is to build real skill and confidence, I recommend working in a short series rather than one-off lessons. Students who commit to a series tend to progress significantly faster because we can build on each session instead of restarting each time.
Why Study Art?
Art is much more than learning how to draw or paint. It encourages observation, creativity, problem solving, patience, and self-expression. It can be both challenging and deeply rewarding.
Whether your goal is personal enrichment, skill development, creative exploration, or professional growth, art offers a meaningful way to engage with the world and yourself.
Most importantly, creativity is not something reserved for a select few. With guidance, practice, and persistence, anyone can learn to make art.
